listen to this and forget the WELCOME TO CARCASS CUNTRY album even exists

and one of the many benefits of carcass reforming and doing a tour was that arch enemy weren't able to tour (as members daniel erlandsson filled in on the stool for original drummer ken owen and michael amott was already an original member of carcass)

easily the most suiting for my first post here. i cant believe there isn't any on here already. how bands like unsane have their own cult following and this band went overlooked is a true crime.

om is what happened when the band sleep split up

al cisneros (bass/vocalist) and chris haikus (drums) continued on in a sleepy direction

matt pike (guitars) went into a more sweaty snaggle toothed direction

this was the band's second show

and that's all you really needs to know

get to it

this was a little something they played over the air on a radio station that comes out of stanford university

did you know the band took it's name from a dr. seuss story?

you couldn't care any less...could you?

did you know that asbestos death guitarist tom choi was once a member? ("why should i care about that, bro?" is what you're probably asking me in your head right about now..well...for one...if you're asking me that question...get off this blog...NOW!...but if you're still here...asbestos death changed their name to sleep after mr. choi left...and i'm assuming that you've heard of sleep,yes?...you know what...i don't like the looks of you...get off this blog...NOW!)

well...for the rest of you...i'm thinking that you've made up your mind and are already in the process of doing what comes naturally around these parts

so if you like your doom sludgy...
or if you like your sludge doomy...

1 - imperial march
2 - alderaan
3 - sith
4 - gage
5 - dianoga
6 - darrell's porno song
7 - evazan
8 - erode the person
9 - junland wastes
10 - procreation of the wicked*

this band came from out of the ashes of the obsessed when they split up back in 1995

the obsessed's bassist (guy pinhas) and drummer (greg rogers) started playing with guitarist greg anderson (sunn o))) and vocalist pete stahl (wool)

and along the line the band has had folks such as scott reeder (kyuss bassist)...joey castillo (drummer ex-sugartooth/current queens of the stone age)...and g. stuart dahlquist (burning witch bassist) as members

so if you like any of the above mentioned bands...you should already be doing it

and if you have to ask what "it" is...well...you may want to re-evaluate your life

1 - slippin' the stealth
2 - innocent*
3 - el coyote
4 - the orphan
5 - flower of disease
6 - long gone
7 - who are you**
8 - mower
9 - trower

*=there's something wrong with the audio
**=black sabbath cover

i hope that i don't have to go into who this band is

because i'm not going to...because if you don't already know...you don't need to know

this was their set from the 7th annual EMISSIONS FROM THE MONOLITH festival (and if you need to be told about what that is...wiki it up)

i don't have a setlist...so you'll have to sit there with a pen and piece of paper and hit pause a lot...show how much of an ehg fan you really are (and if you can figure it out...perhaps you'd like to share that info)

DL: ehg@emissions from the monolith

this is a limited edition split that was released as part of their european tour back in 2003

you already know who/what earth is

and i assume that you know who/what kk null is as well

but for those few of you not on the inside track: if you like bands such as sunn o)))...khanate...early black sabbath (which is actually where the band got it's name as blach sabbath had originally gone under that moniker)...zeni geva...the melvins...

and that should've been enough to hook you in

1 - earth - dexamyl (recorded@crocodile cafe in seattle during 2.03)
2 - earth - dexamyl (remixed by james plotkin)
3 - kk null - andromeda (recorded@binspark tokyo 2.9.03)

DL: earth/kk null split

this ep was my first foray into the doom 'n roll that is cathedral

i kept seeing quotes from pantera's phil anselmo saying that this was "heavier than westminster abbey" (or something like that)...and i figured that mr. anselmo wouldn't lead me astray...so when i came across it in a used bin...i snagged it up

the album previous (FOREST OF EQUILIBRIUM) was pretty much what you'd expect out of a doom band...sloooooooooow and loooooooow (that is the tempo)...but with this they kick things up a notch slightly and move into the psychedoomrock direction they're known for nowadays

so if you consider yourself a fan of that whole "stoner rock" business...you should already own this...and have made people listen to it at gunpoint

DL: soul sacrifice

in order to have any sort of successful haunted house or romantic evening with the significant/insignificant other...you need to have a copy of this

DL: the great beast speaks

keeping with the spirit of halloween...here's a tribute to everyone's favorite tiny elvis

you get coliseum covering the danzig jam "am i evil" and tossing in 2 originals that could almost pass for some old school misfits (but crustier and wearing more denim sounding)

and then you get doomriders covering the danzig jam "possession" and tossing in an original song that sounds like it could pass for an old school misfits song as well (but crustier and wearing more denim...as well)

DL: not of this world
